Enter the turbulent world of 18th century Paris and join us on a musical journey through the city. From the grandeur of Versailles to the bustling streets of the working class districts of the Marais!
Immerse yourself in the beautiful music of French Baroque masters such as Jean-Philippe Rameau, Jean-Baptiste Lully and Marin Marais, a true musical reflection of the splendour of the Sun King's court. Also dive into the vibrant music scene of cosmopolitan Paris, where Italian composers such as Francesco Geminiani introduced their own unique style and influences. Finally, lose yourself in the streets and alleys of the working class districts with their lively folk melodies.
The Jan Petit Ensemble was founded in 2018 at the Lemmensintituut in Leuven by young students with a shared passion for Baroque music. Klara-Twintiger Sterre Decru (voice), Sanderijn Demuynck (harpsichord) and François-Emmanuel Douchy (baroque cello and viola da gamba), who at the time were pursuing classical training, have since each made their own way in the international world of baroque music with great names such as Bart Naessens, Peter Kooij, Viola De Hooge, Robin Blaze, Pascal Bertin and Francesca Aspromonte. With a lot of experience and, above all, enthusiasm, they are now reunited for a new programme of French baroque music!
On the programme: French baroque, airs de cours, folk melodies and works by Francesco Geminiani.
