Hummed songs, whispered love poems, amicable tunes to accompany a good bottle of wine... these brunettes, as they were called, were certainly light in character but strong in authenticity. At the beginning of the 18th century, the French bourgeoisie and nobility loved tunes that told their own stories. The Kapsber’girls revive a selection of these works for one or two voices, with lute or gamba.
