Henri-Jacques De Croes (1705-1786)
Violin concerto Op. 1, No. 1
Violin concerto Op. 1, No. 6
In 1734, the Belgian composer Henri-Jacques De Croes had his first compositions printed in Brussels. These two collections, consisting of six concertos and six sonatas, were long thought to be lost. However, recent research by violinist Ann Cnop in Stockholm has led to the discovery of the six concertos. Written in the Italian style that was fashionable at the time, they are strongly reminiscent of Vivaldi.
