With her first Best Of album, Zap Mama looks back on her rich career. Marie Daulne is a singer, composer, activist and music teacher. Born in Congo, the heart of Africa, and raised in Brussels, the heart of Europe, she really gets the best of both worlds. Since the early nineties, she has been the frontwoman of Zap Mama, the band with which she achieved international success, including a Grammy nomination.

Zap Mama started out as a polyphonic a cappella female quintet and launched the term ‘Afropean’. By doing so, the group gave a voice to an emerging bi-cultural generation of Afro-Europeans, through ethnically influenced music and through dance and fashion. Over the years, the group has evolved to a unique mix of European, American and African rhythms and traditions.

Over the last 25 years, Zap Mama toured the United States, Japan and Europe. She performed and collaborated with artists such as The Neville Brothers, Al Jarreau, Erykah Badu, Talib Kweli, Common, Bilal, Questlove and Bobby McFerrin.
