For this 2024 edition of Leuven Jazz, young drummer and LUCA student Moene Peeters is given a carte blanche to put together an evening with two emerging talents. Enjoy these young and fresh sounds during this double bill.

Due to an agenda conflict, Joel Francis' performance cannot take place. With Oriana Ikomo, however, we present a very strong alternative.

Oriana Ikomo - THE HEALING

Embark on a soul-stirring voyage with Oriana Ikomo as she unveils THE HEALING, an EP that encapsulates the profound metamorphosis she has undergone in recent years. This musical journey is an ode to personal empowerment, and Oriana’s resilience echoes through each note and lyric.

Her sonic palette is a rich tapestry of genres, seamlessly weaving together R&B, gospel, ambient, jazz, electronic and pop influences. Her sound is affirmed and robust, reflecting the strength she has discovered within herself. In each track, she showcases her exceptional versatility as an artist. From the heart-wrenching MAMA, LET’S GO to the rhythmically charged IMMA PLEASER, she navigates effortlessly through different musical landscapes.

THE HEALING is not just an EP; it’s an invitation to delve into the depths of Oriana’s soul. Through her evocative lyrics and dynamic melodies, you witness the beauty that emerges from personal growth and self-discovery.

In 2022, her song IF served as a soundtrack in the Belgian television series Roomies. In 2023, she cemented her musical and live reputation by making the finals in two of Belgium’s biggest music competitions, Sound Track and Studio Brussels’ De Nieuwe Lichting.

Fred Gata

Fred Gata is the winner of Sound Track 2023 Flemish Brabant and a young Leuvener with an ambition for art and building a close community within Leuven, but also with the rest of our small but hearty country.

Love, togetherness and passing on knowledge are the various elements that make up his life goal. Fred wants to realise this goal through soulful music, photography of people with their raw emotions and paintings that make you take a look at people in society who are often overlooked. In short, creating moments of coming together in which each individual can shine as a group!

With Faust on the bass, Jef on the drums, Maura on the keys, Bram on the guitar, Ruben on the violin and Levi as backing vocal, this musical flowerbomb comes together fresh and fruity into a beautiful bouquet! A band called Fred Gata And The Mothership!
