In all his shows, Maxim Storms gives a voice to characters who are faced with an ‘impossibility’. NUGGETS is the latest step in this quest for philosophical insight.

In Storms’s new physical solo performance, he (de)constructs the individual holding his own in today’s 'we-want-more' society on speed. Maxim does this in his (renowned) grotesque style and with his (distinctive and unique) rhythmic language constructions. He creates a ramshackle universe where the last human being obstinately continues to shape his existence. By means of a rickety construction and fatal repairs, the character tries to fulfil his unclear destiny.

For his previous solo performance, Brother Blue, Storms designed an unreliable landscape where the protagonist lost his tail. In NUGGETS, he goes one step further, and the protagonist makes radical alterations to the remains of his existence. Maxim Storms is an iconoclast who studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Ghent (KASK) and has performed on various platforms for various audiences.
One example is Ballet Dommage, with Katrien Valckenaers, which never ceases to amaze thanks to the speci­fic setup, language and staging. And performance band Brik Tu-Tok featuring Linde Carrijn brings a wide array of sounds to life by means of cassettes, household objects and homemade instruments.
In addition, there is Storms's dark and comic theatre work – solo or as a duo with Lobke Leirens – with its incongruous humour, moustachioed poker face and faultless sense of timing, in which the absurd prevails. Brutal chansons, jabber and Dadaist monologues, cosmic collages and sponge sculptures are never far away.

Belgian newspaper De Standaard dubbed him ‘the Charlie Chaplin of his generation’ due to the slapstick that characterises Storms’s style. In recent years, Maxim and his team have been selected for TheaterFestival or Circuit X no fewer than 5 times. Tribunal (BRONKS & Ballet Dommage) was staged at TheaterFestival in 2021.
