The Belgian National Orchestra treats you to a dazzling New Year’s Concert conducted by Antony Hermus. The chief-conductor kicks off the new year with twelve popular pieces that look ahead to the months of the coming year. As usual, the concert is concluded with the famous Radetzky March.

Dressing up, excessive eating and drinking and wearing masks are all signs of winter ending during Carnival in February. It is the perfect opportunity to perform the overture of Die Fledermaus, Johann Strauss Jr.’s masterpiece and perhaps the most famous operetta ever.

In March, the dawn of spring makes feelings run high, just as in Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria rusticana. The heartwrenching intermezzo from this opera will be performed.

Summer smells like Rosen aus dem Süden, which is reflected in the concert waltz of the same name by Johann Strauss Jr. Blossoming cotton plants bring about a sultry atmosphere over the fields. George Gershwin manages to capture that scene perfectly in sound with Summertime from Porgy and Bess. But summer is over in no time and soon after, winter is knocking at the door. To the tones of Waltz of the Flowers by Tchaikovsky, a fragment form his famous The Nutcracker ballet, we are already putting up the Christmas tree.
