Musica Gloria is a young, sparkling baroque ensemble of the highest calibre, led by traverso player and harpsichordist Beniamino Paganini and oboist Nele Vertommen.

The ensemble takes us back to the 17th-century England of the brothers Daniel and Henry Purcell for an anthology of vocal and instrumental gems that seem destined to blend together. In addition to music from The Fairy Queen and Oh Solitude, lesser-known works are also included.

The brothers (or were they cousins?) Purcell attended the same choir, were both musically active in London as adults and regularly composed together. When Henry died tragically young, Daniel completed his opera The Indian Queen.

The journey begins in Henry Purcell's England. Inspired by European influences but true to his own traditions, he created a unique musical idiom for English baroque music. Henry Purcell is sometimes called the English Bach. His music shows incredible ingenuity, brilliant skill and emotional power.

Musica Gloria concentrates on the music of the Baroque era, adapting its instrumentation, period instruments and performance practice to its carefully crafted programmes. In Musick for a While, they take you on a journey through the music of the brothers Daniel and Henry Purcell.

With music by Henry Purcell, Daniel Purcell and Tobias Hume.
