Along with Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann was one of the first - and without a doubt one of the brightest - female composers of the nineteenth century that were saved from oblivion and given their rightful place. Besides being a remarkable concert pianist, she was also the composer of a sensitive oeuvre, that unmistakeably carries the shadow of Schumann, as well as that of Brahms.
