Rachmaninov was only 21 when he composed these six works for piano four-hands, each “in the style of …”: a grand voyage through the classical repertoire!
Liszt brings the Hungarian style - more precisely the tzigane - into action: his Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 for piano
from 1857 got so much acclaim (and still does!) that he made several transcriptions, including this one for piano four-hands from 1871.
