Ambitious and adventurous. Eager and energetic. Innovative and connecting. Once you’ve heard Frascati Symphonic play music, you are guaranteed to be a fan. A unique collaboration with the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel allows young, talented soloist to perform together with the Leuven orchestra.

22-year-old pianist Valère Burnon studies at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel with Frank Braley, who won the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 1991. Burnon is the soloist performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, his most intimate and refined piano concerto. For example, Beethoven gives access to his emotion, in the most honest way possible, in the intriguing Andante con moto.

Piano Concerto No. 4 brings a striking novelty. In those days, a concerto usually started with a (long) introduction by the orchestra before the soloist started playing. In this case, the soloist starts the concerto with a piano solo and the orchestra only joins later in the concerto. Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 is undoubtedly a masterpiece of concert literature. Not to be missed!

Following the intermission, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, one of his best-known and loved pieces, will be performed. It is a true romantic piece, full of emotions, about a person struggling with fate, but ultimately triumphing over his challenges. This symphony is undoubtedly a key piece in the composer’s turbulent inner life.
