A moving and hilarious story about a mundane day in the life of a bench.
A bench, so mundane. And yet so magical! You find them everywhere in cities, parks and gardens, like an open invitation for surprises. An elderly lady does everything she can to keep life at bay, from her bench. Her surroundings, however, surprise her. If only they let her be old and grumpy! But the boy is skateboarding, the dog is sniffing and scurrying around, birds are chirping and a friendly older gentleman is reading his newspaper.
Baenken is wordless figure theatre, balancing between insightful, serious and funny. Baenken tells a universal story about what isolation and loneliness can do to someone and what recognition can mean.
Baenken dates from March 2023 and was an immediate success, receiving rave reviews from audiences, professionals and press alike.
Teater Refleksion is a Danish figure theatre company that has existed since 1990 and creates performances for children with simple and universal stories using puppets, music, and few words in a strong visual identity of their own.
The Boze Wolf festival is a collaboration between Flemish-Brabant cultural centres to put figure theatre on the map. We selected this moving gem from Denmark, specifically for this festival.
