Electronics grandmaster William Basinski returns to Belgium after 5 years for an exclusive show at the theater of Leuven, supported by Canadian experimental violin player Jessica Moss.
William Basinski
American composer William Basinski is considered one of the most influential voices in electronic avant garde music and ambient. He is best known for his 2002 four-part masterpiece The Disintegration Loops, in which slowly crumbling tapes produce dystopian sounds. Repetition, slow decay and minor scales are also central to the fragile Lamentations, his 28th (!) studio album released in 2020. STUK is delighted to host the grandmaster again in Leuven, following his passage at Artefact in 2016.
Jessica Moss
Jessica Moss is a violinist and composer based in Montréal, Canada. She has released four albums since 2014 and in the past has also played with bands such as Fugazi and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. With amplified and processed violin (and voice), she creates expressive post-classical music with distinctive melodic qualities. Electronic drone and post-punk fringes dialogue with influences from Klezmer, Balkan and Middle Eastern music. Wonderfully expansive soundscapes that form an antidote to our times.
