Conor O’Brien was pleased to announce Villagers’ fifth studio album Fever Dreams. In times of lockdown, when everyone was looking for connection, O’Brien withdrew to work on his fifth album. In his safe cocoon, he made an album full of rich feelings, instruments and stories.

Escapism is a very necessary pursuit at the moment and Fever Dreams follows it to mesmerising effect. The album works like the best records do: it takes you away from everyday reality for a while and lets you drift off into euphoric and absurd daydreams.

We open the evening with singer-songwriter Conchúr White (Northern Ireland). After the split of his band Silences in 2019, White opted for a solo career. His debut EP Bikini Crops (2020) and the follow-up Dreamers (2021) are evidence of his inarguable talent as a songwriter and musician.

His musical storytelling combines dream-like surrealism, soothing folk and indie-rock bedlam, with lyrical influences including the likes of Father John Misty, Lana Del Rey and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys).

Having toured with Villagers in the UK and Ireland, he now joins them on their European tour.
