What if three brilliant musicians from three different worlds reached out to each other for a unique collaboration around Johann Sebastian Bach’s music? Bach’s baroque masterpieces inspired jazz trumpeter Jean-Paul Estiévenart, baroque oboist Marcel Ponseele and keyboard player Anthony Romaniuk to take on a project in which Bach’s music is alternated with jazzy interpretations.
Like a true triptych, their performance consists of three parts: Miseria, Transitio and Transfiguratio.
Bach would approve of this, because doesn’t the number represent the holy trinity? The concert brings a unique blend of Bach’s music respectfully fused into an authentic and honest jazz improvisation, supported by the unique and heartwarming sound of baroque ensemble Il Gardellino.
Marcel Ponseele says: “Two such different worlds, baroque and jazz, meet where the distinction between the two disappears. By capturing the hearts of the audience, we understand that music is a universal language that transcends everything.”
