The Spirit of Talk Talk
special creation
Talk Talk broke through in the early 1980s with melancholic pop songs like It's My Life and Life's What You Make It. At first, they were compared to new-romantic bands like Duran Duran, but they soon struck out on their own.
In 1987, Mark Hollis and producer Tim Friese-Greene worked in silence for months on Spirit of Eden (1988), a revolutionary album that merged jazz, ambient, and impressionistic sounds. First misunderstood, it developed into a visionary masterpiece and forerunner of post-rock. After the even more experimental Laughing Stock (1991), Talk Talk disappeared. Bands like Radiohead and Sigur Rós recognised their influence later on.
In The Spirit Of Talk Talk, David Poltrock and a top-notch band – Stefanie Callebaut, Lennert Coorevits, Ruben Block, Isolde Lasoen and more – bring the iconic Spirit of Eden back to life. This Talk Talk masterpiece, visionary and timeless, will be played in its entirety, complemented by classics from Mark Hollis' repertoire. A unique tribute to a revolutionary band
