Franz Schubert
(1797-1828)
Quintet for piano and strings “Die Forelle”, op. 114, D. 667
The Quintet for piano and strings op. 114 is an early work of Schubert, but it was not published until a year after his death. It has probably one of his most famous themes: the ‘trout’. It comes from the fifth movement of his eponymous song Die Forelle op. 32 and is followed by five variations.
