Astor Piazzolla
(1921-1992)
Primavera porteña
Verano porteño
Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741)
Concerto “La primavera”, op. 8 nr. 1, RV 269
Concerto “L’estate”, op. 8 nr. 2, RV 315
Where the first four concertos of Vivaldi’s Opus 8 evoke the four meteorological seasons, the seasons of Piazzolla – although inspired by the preceding ones – rather represent the different life stages of an inhabitant of the outskirts of Buenos Aires. This original violin-accordion duo draws a subtle and lively link between the violin concertos of the Italian master of the 17th century and the bandoneon of the master of the Argentine tango nuevo.
