Natchav

At the break of dawn, the Natchav circus comes to town. Banging their hammers, they pitch up their tent. The public comes flocking in enthusiastically. However, the local authorities would rather see the back of them. They want to run them out of town, but the circus artists are no pushovers. Natchav ("to leave, to flee" in Romani) relates the adventures of a circus which defies every rule to remain free. This live show resembles a movie, with outstanding shadow puppetry. The four puppeteers and two musicians will take you on an unparalleled adventure. By mixing reality and fantasy, Natchav gives you a taste of freedom.

Les ombres portées was founded in 2009 by a group of people coming from a wide range of disciplines: music, scenography, construction, drawing, photography, etc. In total, this collective consists of about a dozen artists and technicians. Les ombres portées revisits the art of shadow theatre with an original and innovative poetic language, offering wordless shows for all target groups accompanied by live music. They consider each project as an opportunity to develop a new scenography and a unique musical aesthetic in line with the piece’s subject matter.

This show is dedicated to Olivier Cueto, a member of the shadow theatre company who left us in March 2020. He helped create and play this show until the end.
