Echo Collective - Mirror Image

((Live concert in 4DSOUND, Belgian premiere)

Echo Collective can not be categorized into old-fashioned genres. The Brussels ensemble founded by Neil Leitner and Margaret Hermant meanders between contemporary classical music and hypnotic soundscapes. They use diverse classical instruments such as strings and piano but also electronics, have collaborated with legendary composers such as Jóhann Jóhannsson or Stars of the Lid and tirelessly explore new forms of musical experience.

This time as a duo, Margaret and Neil focus on creating in 4DSOUND, a new technology that enables spatial sound experiences. Armed with viola, harp, piano, voice and a forest of speakers, Echo Collective immerses you in an ocean of sound and emotion.

Gazelle Twin & NYX

(Listening session in 4DSOUND)

“Here lies our ancient future, Deep England: our hope and compassion in the chokehold of power and glory. Hand in hand, here we cry our rage: summoning a lament into the ether, a divine androgynous force, a transcendental purge of the dizzying chaos of post-truth Britain.” - Gazelle Twin & NYX

Rooted in English pagan and sacred music, Deep England is an electronic-choral expansion of Gazelle Twin’s 2018 album Pastoral (Anti-Ghost Moon Ray). Here, tracks from Pastoral, an album whose political themes have only intensified since its original release, are radically reworked and presented alongside original compositions by NYX, Paul Giovanni and William Blake.
