lightparticles inc. is a performance about light. With light. Through light.
It is a wordless show in which light plays the leading part. The story is told through silence, movement, light and shadow. With only a box of light bulbs, a whole imaginary world is created.
Adolphe Appia described the use of light in theatre as follows in 1899: “What the partiture is for the music, that is in the domain of theatre the light.”
Light determines what is visible, reveals a space or shrouds it in darkness, creates shadows and tension.
In this show, Gilles looks for a dramaturgy of light. How can you play with different types of light, each contributing their meaning and shape to the performance? Or how can you create different atmospheres with a minimum of light? An interplay between various sources of light.
The aim is to capture the feeling and beauty of light and convey it to the audience.
