“Love at first sight only lasts a flash of lightning, many a fool forgets that the sound of thunder heralds bad weather and that we often dance alone in the rain ... It makes us doubt what we know, but we want to touch it, caress it, taste it, to the limit. We want everything, not just a little bit. To the end, to the extreme. We love each other until love makes us bleed.”

Pitcho Womba Konga

How far do you have to go, how long do you have to hold on before you can say you've tried everything? It is said that there is no such thing as failure, that every break-up is an experience that strengthens us for new adventures. But is that true in love? What does the end of our love experiences say about ourselves? And do we attach too much importance to the word ‘love’? Should we drop the weight we attach to it and redefine the concept? And to get there, shouldn't we start at the end?

When KVS director Pitcho Womba Konga (known from creations such as Kuzikiliza and Fire Will Become Ashes, But Not Now) read French-Algerian writer Brigitte Giraud's novel L'amour est très surestimé a few years ago, new doors opened for him. He began to wonder what role love can and should play in our lives. And whether we have started to delineate the concept too strictly.

In a style midway between theatre, slam poetry and song, the director invites us to explore the antics of love, through a collage of stories, topped with a sauce of electronic music, gospel, african music and chanson. The wonderful cast features Lisette Ma Neza, Marie Daulne, Clarice Malamba (Nsangu), Rokia Bamba and Caro Abutoh.
