INZOZI ZANJYE
INZOZI ZANJYE, “my dreams” in Kinyarwanda, is a multidisciplinary performance, situated between concert, dance and theater, unfolding as a journey through the landscapes of Dushime’s existence. As an artist of Rwandan descent living in Belgium, Dushime has moved between two worlds, never fully landing in either. This in-betweenness created a deep need to understand where she belongs. Through that search, she experienced feelings of displacement and alienation, creating a burden that sometimes felt greater than her own life.
In this piece, Dushime travels through the chambers lying within her: her memories, her longing, her grief, her joy. She finds herself in a dreamscape, a space between the self and the soul, where familiar narratives dissolve and time deconstructs into a non-linear reality.
Every element in this work carries a voice, a presence: the protagonist (Dushime), the guide and soul (dancer), the ancestors (choir and ensemble) and the world itself. These forces are in ongoing dialogue in which memory, body and spirit intertwine. Nothing is placed without purpose, everything speaks and everything listens.
At the intersection of music, movement, storytelling and imagery, a journey of surrender, searching, listening, understanding and liberation unfolds. INZOZI ZANJYE invites you to witness a transformation, in the hope of collectively anchoring and connecting.
About Dushime
Dushime is a versatile Belgian-Rwandan artist and actress who effortlessly blends music, storytelling and performance. With her authentic and powerful style, she considers performing as a form of healing. She uses her voice as a versatile instrument to create different textures. Her poetic lyrics draw on a wide range of musical influences, while remaining rooted in sincerity and spiritual resonance. Delicate yet powerful, theatrical yet deeply intimate, Dushime invites you into a world that is constantly in motion. A world that heals, supports and continues to unfold.
Andie Dushime (°1995, Kigali) made her acting debut in Milo Rau’s Lam Gods and subsequently appeared in Luk Perceval’s Black: the sorrows of Belgium. This spring, she appeared on stage alongside Bruno Vanden Broucke in Powerplay, directed by Valentijn Dhaenens. She studied Art History at Ghent University, but put her studies on hold to devote herself fully to the theatre world. She also professes her love for authentic soul and jazz.
