English 16th-century society was charmed by Italian music, art and lifestyle. Romeo and Juliet were by no means the only lovers who met under the southern sun. English musicians travelled to Rome, Florence and Mantua to study Italian music. King Henry VIII welcomed the very virtuoso recorder ensemble consisting of the Bassano family to his court.

Recorder ensemble B-Five follows the traces of this artistic migration between Italy and England during the Renaissance and lets us enjoy the moving polyphony and lively folk dance melodies that emerged from the cross between very diverse musical traditions.

In recent years, B-Five has become one of the best recorder ensembles in the world. It has been stubbornly paving its own way for fifteen years. They aim to play consort music of the highest level. Nothing more, but definitely nothing less either. And they succeed.
Their organic harmony, their superior craftmanship, but especially their intense musicality convince media and audiences everywhere. With their unique set of more than twenty Renaissance flutes, they keep looking for the best their instruments have to offer: a wonderful conversation between like-minded spirits. Extraordinarily intimate. Often melancholic, sometimes lighthearted, but always deeply moving: that is the perfect description of B-Five.
