In 2024, it will be 50 years ago that 23 boys lost their lives in the boarding school fire of Heusden-Zolder. To commemorate this disaster, the acclaimed and cathartic performance Fire is brought back to the stage.
After all, the traces of the fire are still perceptible. Time has only barely begun to heal the wounds. With Fire, we not only try to reconstruct the past, but also investigate how this event continues to make itself felt today. How do you deal with acute loss? How does such a disaster shape the rest of your life? How do you give meaning to this event? How do you cope with grief? And where do you place your hope if your source of hope has been taken away?
