The scenery plays the leading part. It creaks and grates across the stage and conjures up one place after the other with ropes and pulleys. Have I been here before? Is it a dark castle? Is it a long corridor? An empty ballroom whose door has just swung open? A fox’s den? A small garden? A green icehouse full of snow? Or is it slime? It seems as if all living creatures have disappeared from the stage. Or not?

Benjamin Verdonck and Lucas van Haesbroeck are theatre artists and magicians who have staged shows with the most mundane objects for years. They draw inspiration from the rich archives of DE MAAN, the mechanics of old theatre sets and the technicality of puppet theatre as a medium.
