Max Bruch composed the 'Acht Stücke' in 1911 for his son, who was then at the beginning of his career as a clarinettist. They’re genuine chamber trios: short, lyrical and temperamental. They inevitably remind us of Brahms, but also of Schumann, Schubert and Beethoven, in the purest German Romantic tradition.
