Vocal ensemble Irini explores the medieval music of Western Europe, the Byzantine Empire and the Eastern Christian tradition. The programme presents the different versions of the virgin Mary using Greek, Lebanese, Syrian and Cypriot-Orthodox chants, excerpts from the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat (14th century Spain) and 13th-century Italian lauds.
