This year's Philosophy Festival is all about strangeness and intimacy. Sometimes what was familiar becomes strange. A friend or partner disappears from our lives. An illness reveals the anonymity of the body. Neighbours suddenly become sworn enemies. Conversely, what was strange can sometimes become familiar. This change rarely happens by itself; it requires hard work. At first, strangeness repels. Successive waves of migration bring 'strangers' into our intimacy. After their punishment, prisoners reappear in our midst.

This year, exceptionally, the Philosophy Festival takes place at the Institute of Philosophy in Leuven. With Lea Ipy, Paul Verhaeghe, Ernst Wolff, Paul Van Tongeren, Tamar de Waal, Mark Elchardus, Farah Focquaert, Pieter De Witte, and many others.
