CIRKLABO is the Leuven laboratory which will explore circus arts in all forms. Artists are given physical and mental space to experiment, create and produce.
CIRKLABO will start as a new circus workspace as of January 1st, 2021. It will continue and rework the current residency program, as well as the CIRKL festival.
Apply for one of two brand-new OPEN CALLS in the CIRKLABO residency program:
Blank Space in 2021
supporting the non-result-driven research and experiment, as well as creation and training in the realms of the development of an artist and/or the circus arts.
Coproductions in 2022
supporting residency and co-production for the creation of performances, as well as artistic research.
The artist and the development of the circus arts are central to CIRKLABO.
It is based on non-product-driven experiment, exchange and reflection.
Absorbing evolutions in the circus arts, in Leuven or in society, the workspace stimulates the artistic deepening of circus, mainly on the following themes:
- interdisciplinarity inside and outside the arts
- new urbanity, and
- digital technology
CIRKLABO is an initiative of cultural centre 30CC, in close and active collaboration with the circus sector and the cultural department of the city of Leuven.
