James MacMillan is one of the most successful contemporary composers. His musical language has been influenced by his Scottish roots, Catholic faith and social involvement. It is therefore a delight to see him conduct his own work, accompanied by the Flemish Radio Choir in an exceptional project focused on faith and religion. Seven Angels brings the Book of Revelation to life in an impressive manner. At the end, redemption fortunately awaits with the Biblical words: “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth.” Finally, James MacMillan comes full circle with his wonderful Miserere, inspired by Allegri’s famous Miserere, which is the opener of the concert.
