‘Kind’ (‘Child’ in Dutch) follows the choices, doubts and physical changes of a growing child. Through preparatory research with and by young people from various backgrounds – privileged, disadvantaged, and orphaned – the choreographers explored several key aspects of their protagonist: his body language, his urge to play, and his quest for truth.
How do children organise their world, through role-play or imitation, in order to grasp certain situations? How do they respond in traumatic situations or express their fears when adults aren’t around?
Following ‘Vader’ (Franck Chartier, 2014) and ‘Moeder’ (Gabriela Carrizo, 2016), Peeping Tom now completes this acclaimed family trilogy with ‘Kind’. The cast journey from early childhood to erratic adolescence and adulthood. Locals of all generations play a part as extras in ‘Kind’.
