Focus on modern classical music
Canadian composer Jean-Michel Blais creates beautiful neoclassical piano music that has often been described as poetic. His debut album Il has been streamed over 50 million times and reached number 1 on Billboard's Classical chart in Canada. His second album Dans Ma Main is a treat for the ear and will receive its Belgian live premiere at the festival.
Dutch harpist and composer Remy van Kesteren made his breakthrough last year with the album Shadows. He often gets out of his comfort zone to explore the limits with his minimalist sounds. The New York Times described him as a “brilliant harpist” for a good reason; he has won the hearts of lovers of classical as well as pop music. He will bring an intimate solo performance supported by titillating visuals.
Pianist Wouter Dewit’s debut album Still has been received very positively by the media. His composition La Durée has been streamed more than 14 million times in Spotify's Peaceful Piano playlist. In September 2019, his new album Here will appear, continuing the compositional line towards greater simplicity and colourful arrangements. For this release concert, Dewit will perform with his new quartet.
