Beethoven’s Immortal Beloved
Due to road works on the Bondgenotenlaan, we advise you to plan your journey to the 30CC/Schouwburg ahead of time!
In his Beethoven biography, Jan Caeyers reconstructs the romance between Beethoven and Josephine Brunsvik, a countess who took piano lessons with Beethoven. The latter fell in love with her, but was never able to marry her.
At the request of 30CC, Jan Caeyers tells this tragic love tale on his own moving way. He portrays Beethoven as a vulnerable artist who succeeded in translating his deeply felt emotions into the most beautiful, unparalleled music. Pianist Piet Kuijken interlaces the story with fragments from famous sonatas: 'Pathétique', 'Mondschein' and 'Appassionata'.
