An afternoon with Louis Theroux
Gotta Get Theroux This. His personal memoirs.
Louis Theroux began his career at Michael Moore’s ‘TV Nation’. Besides his series on extreme subcultures in the US and specials about British celebrities, he produced a film called ‘My Scientology Movie’. Theroux has won two Bafta Awards and the RTS award for his work. Earlier he published the book ‘Call of the Weird: Travels in American Subcultures’.
This is the third time Theroux pays a visit to Leuven. He was the central guest during ‘DOCVILLE 2012’, and afterwards once more in 2016 when he presented the Belgian première of his documentary film ‘My Scientology Movie’.
This time, Theroux presents the Dutch translation of his newest book ‘Geen taboe voor Theroux. Zijn persoonlijke memoires’ (Ambo Anthos). This is a vintage Theroux book: full of dry observations, special encounters and self-mockery, but at the same time, Theroux is thoughtful and honest.
Louis Theroux takes the reader on a catchy trip through his unexpectedly successful career, from the BBC to his prize-winning documentaries. He describes his many encounters with the most extreme subcultures, from racist militias in the US, professional wrestlers and the dangerous gangs in Johannesburg to heavy binge-drinking Londoners. A must-read for all Theroux fans!
