50 choirs - 22 venues - 6.000 visitors

The second edition of our choir festival ‘Leuven beKOORt’ was an overwhelming success!

Our warm thanks go to

  • all 50 choirs and their conductors,
  • more than 80 volunteers,
  • our partners, sponsors and helping hands
  • and the enthusiastic and massively present audience of over 6.000 visitors

'Leuven beKOORt 2024' was the dreamlike opening of our cultural season 2024-2025.

Edition 2 in a nutshell

For the second edition of Leuven beKOORt, we joined forces with KOORUWEL again for a city full of choral sounds.

50 choirs performed on 22 stages on one Sunday afternoon. They came from Leuven, Brabant, Flanders, Wallonia and the Netherlands. Between 1:30 pm and 5 pm, each choir sang two 30-minute concerts on two different stages in the city centre. The stages were within walking distance, between the ‘boarding stations’ town hall, Olevodroom and Damiaanplein.

All the choirs gathered on the Grote Markt at 5:30 pm as a closing event. Together, they sang a new composition written for Leuven beKOORt by Pieter Nevejans, the conductor of Kooruwel.

All 100 concerts were free of charge. As a visitor, you could choose from very diverse styles and sounds: from Gregorian chant and classical to world music to pop and rock. And you also discovered surprising venues, inside and outside, in the Leuven city centre. Relaxing with a drink and eating a bite is also part of this polyphonic day!
