(The Mystery of) KEM
The new album '(The Mystery of) KEM' by drummer Stéphane Galland (Aka Moon) is based on his sustained quest for new rhythms. Kem means ‘black’ in Ancient Egyptian, the colour of the silt deposited by the Nile which made the soil fertile. It is in this symbolic soil that (The Mystery of) KEM can grow. New rhythms emerge in his music, with structures, dances and improvisations being inspired by the most divers cultures. On his journey, Stéphane Galland is accompanied by four remarkable artists, including Indian flutist Ravichandra Kulur (who collaborated with Ravi Shankar and Anoushka Shankar).
