The merry widow
'The Merry Widow' tells the story of a rich young widow named Hannah. She leads a merry life in Paris and, as a result, risks losing her fortune. The ambassador of her homeland Pontevedro travels to Paris to prevent this from happening. He intends that Count Danilo asks for her hand in marriage. However, Hannah and Danilo had a romance before her marriage and their love is rekindled. This is the beginning of an amusing comedy!
Compelling rhythms, effervescent arias and a vibrant story ... Franz Lehár had all the ingredients to compose Die lustige Witwe. This international success has appealed to audiences since its 1905 premiere.
