Širom (SI) & Merope - CANCELLED
In order to slow down the spread of the corona virus, this show is cancelled. If you have tickets for this event, 30CC will inform you personally about further actions. Ticket holders do not have to take any action themselves for the time being.
The music created by Slovenian trio Širom as can be heard on their timeless album 'I Can Be A Clay Snapper' can best be described as “folk music from a parallel universe”. Three musicians play over twenty traditional hand-made instruments and show boundless imaginative power. They take age-old folk music to the 21st century by means of a unique sound collage in which you can lose yourself completely. Leave the modern times behind you and drift away into their sensory world.
Belgian trio Merope was awarded by radio station Klara for best Belgian world music album, and we will surely hear a lot from them in the future. According to the jury, their album Naktes is “a drawn out dream from which you do not want to wake up.”
“The combination of multiple overlapping textures is mesmeric, lying somewhere in the uncharted triangle between Hauschka’s acoustic techno, the Sun Ra’s Arkestra’s galactic wanderings and Kronos Quartet’s omnivorous chamber folk.” (***** - Songlines over Širom)
