Roots over Leuven
A night out in pure Americana style with three exrtaordinary musicians.
The sound of Robert Ellis straddles the worlds of folk and country, with influences from the 1970s. He swapped his guitar for his first love, the piano, and gave his new album the appropriate title Texas Piano Man. Classic songs, a wonderful voice, an eye for melody and lyrics with the occasional nice twist.
Erin Rae released her debut album at the end of 2015, which featured new music for old souls and was picked up by Rolling Stone and the BBC. She continues along this path with her new album Putting on Airs: a mix of traditional and alternative folk and indie rock. Her melancholy voice remains her biggest asset.
Erin Rae is nominated for Americana Music Association's Emerging Act of The Year!
Senora May writes wonderful folk songs which she performs in an unforgettable fashion. At first sight, her music is very rustic and secure, but it conceals an unsettling world. For instance, Be My Lonesome contains the lyrics: “You don’t wanna fuck, or fight, or get flowers, you just wanna lay back and put your feet up.” We will certainly hear more about her in the years to come.
