This year we’re honouring the piano with not one, but two Piano Days! This annual piano festival, an initiative by Nils Frahm, shows you the versatility of the 88 keys. During two double bills, four pianists will explore the boundaries between classical and modern compositions.

Piano Day 1: Peter Broderick (US) & Büşra Kayıkçı (TR)

American multi-instrumentalist and singer Peter Broderick is praised for his outstanding solo material, in addition to his cooperation with excellent artists like M. Ward, Laura Gibson, Efterklang or Nils Frahm.

His solo work consists both of simple piano compositions and songs recorded in his living room. This musical jack-of-all-trades doesn’t care about genres and has thus made a name for himself as one of the most captivating artists of contemporary music.

In 2020, his new album Blackberry was released (via Erased Tapes): Peter Broderick himself describes it as experimental-bedroom-folk-pop”. Blackberry is Peter’s first vocal album since 2015.

In April 2021, pianist Büşra Kayıkçı became the first Turkish musician who released an album under Deutsche Grammophon, one of the most prestigious classical music record labels.

Kayıkçı is an interior designer, visual artist and pianist. With the same inspiration and technique she uses in her designs, she turns her minimalist and neoclassical piano pieces into beautiful gems. A revelation!
