PASSIE VAN DE STEMMEN: IL DIVINO ADRIANO
Willaert (1490-1532) is known as the old maestro of Venice. With his
beautiful polychoral motets he paved the way for San Marco's renowned
musical culture – the one which would reach its absolute peak when
Claudio Monteverdi entered the scene.
In Il Divino Adriano, ensemble Cappella Pratensis explores the early career of Adriaan Willaert. The programme begins with the music of his teachers Josquin des Prez and Jean Mouton and ends with works from the first Italian sources in which Willaert is mentioned, such as the famous Medici Codex.
This concert is a part of the Voices of Passion festival.
