Naktés, a musical ode to the night

Due to COVID travel restrictions, the Jauna Muzika chamber choir cannot travel from Vilnius.
Therefore, Merope has found an alternative collaboration with French filmmaker Vincent Moon. 

Merope is a duo consisting of Lithuanian vocalist Indre Jurgelevičiūtė and Flemish guitar player Bert Cools. Merope’s unique atmospheric aesthetics combine elements from Lithuanian traditional music with electronic instruments and ambient into a colourful tapestry that is simultaneously local and universal.

Their third album Naktės (Nights) is inspired by the mysterious nocturnal atmosphere. This album was awarded a prize by radio station Klara for best Belgian world music album in 2019.

On this occasion, they will collaborate with Petites Planètes, the collective of French moviemakers Vincent Moon and Pricilla Telmon. They previously made videoclips for the likes of R.E.M., Arcade Fire and Tom Jones. The past ten years, Vincent Moon has travelled the globe to capture local rituals, sacral music and shamanistic practices for their film collection Petites Planètes.

Merope's music and the films by Moon and Telmon are equally connected to dreams, nature and spirituality.
This will become manifest in this exclusive concert that combines the hypnotic sounds and imagery from the movie catalogue with Merope's live music.
