Lux in tenebris
Echo of the soul in the Renaissance
With the program Lux in Tenebris, the five-member Utopia Ensemble guides you on a vocal journey through the soulscape of the Renaissance. Featuring works by renowned Franco-Flemish composers such as Josquin des Prez, Pierre de la Rue, Orlandus Lassus, Andreas Pevernage, and Tielman Susato, the ensemble gives voice to human emotions in their most timeless form.
Divided into four parts, the compositions evoke images of stillness and transcendence, quiet sorrow or deep longing, from serene calm to ecstatic joy. Through refined polyphony and simple Gregorian chants, a sound world emerges in which centuries engage in dialogue—where music speaks when words fall short. Let yourself be carried away by the Utopia Ensemble and experience how vibrant, intense, and relevant this music remains, five centuries after its creation.
With music by Josquin des Prez, Pierre de la Rue, Orlandus Lassus, Andreas Pevernage, and Tielman Susato.

Voices of Passion 2026
Leuven and polyphony have been intertwined for years and years. Together with the Alamire Foundation, 30CC puts this tradition under the spotlight, using current knowledge and performance practice, during this Passion of Voices festival.
In this edition of Passion of Voices we draw a musical line through time. Five generations of composers shaped the polyphonic music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and also put the Low Countries unmistakably on the map as the home of polyphony.
