Leonard Bernstein 100! - Broadway meets Bernstein
2018 marks the 100th anniversary of legendary American composer, conductor, pianist, educator and society figure Leonard Bernstein. He acquired international fame with his musical 'West Side Story' from 1957. 30CC pays tribute to this inspiring composer and conductor with three shows: opera, Broadway songs and chamber music.
Leonard Bernstein combined musical, opera and jazz effortlessly into a unique crossover style which lifted the Broadway musical to a higher level. Soprano Hanne Roos and pianist Jeroen D’hoe immerse themselves in Leonard Bernstein’s wonderful Broadway songbook and bring the bustling New York of the twentieth century back to life! In addition to Bernstein’s beloved songs from 'West Side Story' (I Feel Pretty, Somewhere, One Hand, One Heart), they also perform some of this ‘classical’ songs (I Hate Music) and a number of songs written by George Gershwin and Cole Porter that inspired the young Bernstein and helped shape the Broadway musical.
