Thanks to the richness of their timbre and their expansive sound, instruments of the horn family are ideally suited to transcription. United in this quintet, they unfold a remarkably wide expressive range, from solemn grandeur to more intimate moments. Works by Schumann, Messiaen, Nielsen and Shostakovich are given a fresh perspective through powerful, warm sonorities, at times enriched by the distinctive sound of the alphorn.
