Reinecke’s 'Sonata' draws inspiration from the 'Undine' fairytale by Friedrich de la Motte-Fouqué. Its fanciful, poetic content distinguishes it from the trivial, virtuosity-driven sonatas, that were in fashion in that era. The expressive power of the flute brilliantly plays the leading role.
