Four for tango
The sound of a saxophone quartet offers remarkable expressiveness and dynamics, as well as an exceptional palette of colours, almost similar to an organ. This is probably what seduced Joseph Jongen when he composed his Quatuor en forme rapsodique libre in 1942.
Desenclos mainly wrote melodic and harmonic music and composed two key works of the saxophone repertoire, including a Quartet (1964) full of jazz influences.
