is tradition, the Brussels Philharmonic starts the new year in style
with a lively New Year's concert. This year, they delve deep into
Russia's rich musical history, and return with a particularly
Waltz nr. 2 from Shostakovich' Jazz Suite, for example, or Khachaturian's Waltz from Masqeruade, both of which contain that instantly recognizable classical waltz rhythm. But European waltzes will be well-represented as well, with some of the best songs of the Strauss dynasty on the programme.
The soloist for this vibrant programme will be Marc Bouchkov, finalist of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2012, who also happens to have Russian roots. Nastrovje!
