The Flemish Radio Choir asked composer Jeroen D’hoe to arrange the most beautiful pieces of music from The Great American Songbook for choir. Choosing him was no coincidence, since Jeroen is passionate about jazz and collaborated with singer Paul Michiels on a jazz album several years ago.

Timeless is a word that is often used too loosely, but it fits The Great American Songbook perfectly! After all, timelessness is what typifies the many swinging jazz standards composed from the 1920s to the 1950s in the United States by artists such as Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and the duo Rodgers & Hart.

These are all songs that not only have passed the test of time with flying colours, but also remain relevant with every new interpretation. Even though renowned artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan were the ones who gave these unforgettable songs a place in our collective memory, young artists or vocal ensembles are still discovering the potential and especially the pleasure of performing this music.

Join us on an a wonderful night full of musical gems. Master of ceremony Ben Mouling will evoke the atmosphere and glamour of an American jazz club and you will enjoy the Flemish Radio Choir’s version of these evergreens.
